Can I use extensions in Brave?

The Brave browser is packed with great out-of-the box features, including a powerful ad blocker. But you might want to add to this functionality with extensions. Thankfully, any extension found in the Chrome Web Store will also work in Brave. Read on to learn how to safely find, install, and use Chrome extensions in Brave.

How to install Chrome extensions in Brave

To install a Chrome extension in Brave, first search the Chrome Web Store and find the extension you want. Then:

  1. Click Add to Brave on the top right of the page.
  2. If you want to proceed, approve the extension’s data and permissions access.

How to enable, disable, or remove extensions in Brave

You can easily manage Chrome extensions you’ve installed in Brave via the browser’s main menu:

  1. Open Brave, then click the “” menu.
  2. Click Extensions.
  • Enable or disable the extension using the toggle on the bottom right of the extension card.
  • Click Remove to uninstall the extension from Brave.

Will Manifest V2 extensions work in Brave?

Brave has committed to continue supporting some Manifest V2 extensions. But as mentioned above, Brave Shields is such a powerful feature that you won’t need an extension-based ad blocker in Brave.

MV3 extensions will work in Brave just as they do in Chrome.
