Brave Software Joins AdLedger

Non-Profit Blockchain Consortium Unites Industry-Leading
Technology Companies To Reform The Future Of Digital Advertising

New York, NY — December 19, 2018 — AdLedger, the non-profit research and development consortium building and implementing the blockchain standards for digital advertising, today announced that Brave Software, an innovative privacy browser combined with a blockchain-based digital advertising platform, is joining the collective.

IBM, TEGNA, and MadHive founded AdLedger in the beginning of 2018 to drive long-term change in the online advertising industry by bringing together key stakeholders. AdLedger’s goal is to educate partners and advertisers on the benefits of blockchain and to develop the technical standards that will create the change which the industry needs.

The AdLedger consortium consists of advertisers, agencies, publishers, and technology providers such as Publicis, Omnicom, IPG Reprise Digital, GroupM, MadHive, Coindesk, Meredith, TEGNA, IBM and more than 50 other influential companies in the advertising industry.

“AdLedger is uniting the most forward-thinking companies in the digital space, and working together will ensure a sustainable ecosystem for the future of the internet,” said Christiana Cacciapuoti, Executive Director at AdLedger. “Through collaboration, partnerships and proof-of-concepts, we are reimagining and redefining what we know as the world-wide-web.”

With its fast, open-source, privacy-oriented browser (on desktop and mobile) and its blockchain-based Basic Attention Token (BAT) digital advertising platform, Brave Software is resetting the web for users, publishers and advertisers. Users get a better, less cluttered and speedier web experience, publishers increase their revenue share, and advertisers receive better conversion. The Brave browser has 4.7 million monthly active users, and over 23,000 creators are Verified Brave Publishers. Brave Software was co-founded by Brendan Eich, creator of JavaScript and co-founder of Mozilla, and Brian Bondy, formerly of Khan Academy and Mozilla.

“The AdLedger consortium members are behind the most meaningful, high-impact blockchain and cryptography implementations for media related projects,” said Brendan Eich, CEO at Brave Software. “We’re excited to join AdLedger to help implement new standards, and to build a better foundation for digital advertising.”

“Brave is revolutionizing the future of web browsing,” said Adam Helfgott, CEO at MadHive and founding member of AdLedger. “And they will be an influential voice within the AdLedger consortium, which is ensuring a prosperous future for the digital landscape.”
