iNTRODUCING A WAY TO EARN TOKENS

Private Ads in Brave Rewards

The groundbreaking digital ads platform that puts users first.

Opt-In To Earn

Brave Rewards now puts you in control of your own private ad experience.

Brave Rewards not only lets you anonymously support your favorite content creators. Now, you can also use Brave Rewards to earn Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) by viewing privacy-respecting ads. These private ads are presented separately from your web content at a convenient time, and keep your personal details completely private and anonymous.

You can control the number of private ads you’d like to see, and earn up to 70% of the ad revenue. In exchange for your attention, you’ll accumulate tokens as you browse. Pay it forward to your favorite content creators or take them out of your local browser-based wallet in the currency of your choice.

RELEVANT AND private ads

Private ads in Brave Rewards do not collect information about you.

The business of digital advertising currently relies on companies collecting as much information about you as possible. Private ads in Brave Rewards flips this around by putting a smart ad server directly in your device. With Brave Rewards, ad matching happens directly on the device and removes the need to leak personal data to provide relevant advertising.

Brave Rewards protects your privacy

No hint of your browsing activity ever leaves your device.

Brave Rewards locally picks which private ads to show you based on your browsing activity. Then, Brave uses an anonymous accounting process to confirm ad event activity, keep personal details private and ensure people earn rewards for their attention.

Likewise, we can ensure that everyone gets paid the right amount and the books balance, without knowing who got paid for what.

Advertisers end up with confirmation event data, dashboards and tools for monitoring and pacing campaign delivery with metrics and dashboards similar to those they currently work with.

Continue Supporting Creators

Pay it forward, and help creators keep creating.

The web is built by content creators. Most creators depend on an ad-based revenue stream which allows them to keep creating. Unfortunately, the current system is failing to deliver on that promise — the middlemen and platform operators capture most of today’s ad revenue. Private ads in Brave Rewards upends this broken system and provides a new way forward for creator support.

After you join Brave Rewards and start earning BAT by viewing private ads, Brave Rewards automatically pays sites every month based on the attention each site receives while you browse. All of this is under your control; you can choose which sites to support, how much BAT they are paid, and make one-off or recurring tips to your favorite creators. You can also opt out of viewing private ads at any time in the Brave Rewards settings page.

p

Private ads in Brave Rewards do not replace current web page ads.

By default, Brave blocks privacy-invading cross-site web ads and trackers that are embedded in page content. Joining Brave Rewards does not affect your current blocking settings for each website you visit. The private ads you see as part of Brave Rewards are shown separately from your browsing experience and are not the same as the malicious ads embedded in websites.

It’s your money. You earned it for your attention.

While creators need your continued support, you may decide to keep some or all of it for yourself. Brave has built fraud-prevention into the system – to make it really difficult for fraudsters to game the system.

If you decide to take BAT out of your Brave wallet, in the form of USD, EUR, BTC, or other denominations, you will need to prove that you are an individual user through a legally-mandated process referred to as KYC, or Know Your Customer.

This KYC step initially will be provided by our wallet partner Uphold, and later we’ll offer additional options. In no case does Brave request or store your identity; we work with partners who offer this as a service.
